How to Choose Acne Products for Sensitive Skin
If you have sensitive skin, then choosing the right acne products for your sensitive skin can be a challenge. After all, you donít want to buy a product that will irritate your skin and cause redness or dryness. However, you do want to find a way to get rid of acne and have clear, beautiful skin. Here are three tips on how to select acne treatment products if you have sensitive skin.
If You Have Sensitive Skin: Do Not Use Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Products
If you have sensitive skin, the last thing that you want to do is to use a product that may over-dry your skin. Benzyol Peroxide is a strong drying agent that is most likely to harsh for your skin if it is sensitive. Additionally, strong skin-drying agents may actually irritate even normal or combination skin and ultimately cause more acne breakouts. Select acne products with Salicylic Acid or other gentle ingredients and always check the percentage of acne treatment agent in the products to ensure itís not too much for your skinís threshold.
If You Have Sensitive Skin: Be Sure to Use an Oil-Free Moisturizer
Often, people looking for an effective acne treatment believe that they do not need to use moisturizer. This is not true for anybody, because if your skin becomes too dry it will ultimately produce even more excess oil, have even more clogged pores from dry skin cells and breakout even more. However, with sensitive skin, itís even more important to ensure that youíre incorporating and oil-free moisturizer into your acne treatment regimen in order to keep your skin hydrated, normalized and healthy from an overall perspective.
If You Have Sensitive Skin: Always Patch Test Your Acne Treatment Products
Itís a good idea to always test any new skin care or acne product that you use on a small piece of skin for several days before using it on your whole face, but if you have sensitive skin, using an acne product patch test is even more important. Even gentle products can cause sensitive skin to become inflamed, red and irritated in certain cases. You donít want to be walking around with a red, dried out, puffy or even flaking face simply because you didnít take the time to properly test your acne products and make sure that they were not going to further irritate your sensitive skin.
Having sensitive skin doesnít mean that you canít find the right products to be acne free! You just need to be careful, cautious and patient!
